FixMyOrder

Post-purchase order editing for Shopify

The address was worng. The customer fixed it.

FixMyOrder opens a short edit window after checkout. Wrong address, wrong size, second thoughts — the customer fixes it on the order status page in a minute, instead of your support team in three emails.

The difference

One typo, two ways it can go

Without FixMyOrder
Customer, 9:14 pm — Hi! I just ordered and my street is spelled wrong, can you fix it??
Support, next morning — Sure! Can you confirm the full correct address?
Customer, 1:20 pm — 42 Baker Street, Mumbai 400001
Support, 3:05 pm — Updated! Luckily it hadn’t shipped yet.

18 hours, four messages, one nervous customer — and it only worked because the warehouse was slow.

With FixMyOrder
9:14 pm — Order #1042 · shipping address updated by customer

41 seconds after spotting the typo, on the page they were already looking at. Support never heard about it.

How it works

Three steps, and the mistake never reaches the warehouse

STEP 01

Install and set your window

Choose how long orders stay editable — 15 minutes to until-fulfillment. Decide what customers may change. Nothing goes live until you switch it on.

STEP 02

Customers fix their own orders

A small editor appears on the order status page — the page they are already looking at when they spot the mistake.

STEP 03

You see every change

Each edit lands in one log — what changed, on which order, by whom, when. Fulfillment ships to the corrected data.

What customers can fix

The full editing suite

Launching with the mistake that costs merchants the most, then expanding down this list — in the order that saves you the most money.

Shipping address

At launch

Street, city, ZIP — fixed before the label is printed. Country stays locked to protect taxes and rates.

Contact information

Soon

Email and phone corrections, so tracking updates reach the right inbox.

Cancel order

Soon

Self-service cancellation with a reason — refund to the original payment or store credit, your policy decides.

Quantity & variant

Soon

Wrong size, wrong color, one too many — swapped with a live preview before confirming.

Add products

Planned

“While you’re at it” additions land in the same order and the same parcel.

Replace products

Planned

Swap an item for a different one entirely — without a cancel-and-reorder.

Discount code

Planned

“I forgot my code” is a top cancellation reason. Let them apply it after checkout instead.

Shipping upgrade

Planned

Standard to express, paid by the customer — revenue instead of a support ticket.

Delivery date & notes

Planned

Preferred delivery dates and special instructions, attached to the order where your 3PL can see them.

Merchant controls

Customers get a window. You hold the frame.

Every rule is yours: what can be edited, by whom, for how long — and what happens the second the window closes.

Edit window At launch

15 minutes to until-fulfillment, per store. Orders lock the moment the window closes or fulfillment starts — whichever comes first.

Complete change log At launch

Every edit recorded: what changed, on which order, by whom, when. Your source of truth when the customer asks.

Off by default At launch

Install, explore, set your rules. Customers see nothing until you flip the switch.

GDPR built in At launch

Data-request, customer redaction and shop-erasure webhooks are part of the foundation, not an afterthought.

Fulfillment holds Soon

Orders pause during the edit window and release automatically when it closes — with a release tag your 3PL can filter on.

Editing rules Soon

Different windows for pre-orders, B2B or VIPs. Block editing by order, product or customer tag. Digital goods excluded by default.

15 minutes 30 minutes 1 hour 24 hours Until fulfillment

Fulfilled or cancelled orders are never editable — whatever the window says. The moment an order ships, it locks.

Where this goes

Every edit is a second chance at the sale

From cost center to revenue moment

The minutes after checkout are when the purchase is still top of mind. Once editing is solid, the same window carries well-timed add-ons, shipping upgrades and rescued discount codes — added to the same order, shipped in the same box. That layer arrives after launch, on the same foundation you install today.

FAQ

The questions merchants ask first

Can a customer edit an order that already shipped?

No — ever. Fulfilled and cancelled orders are locked regardless of your window setting. The edit window only applies while the order is still unfulfilled.

Can customers change the shipping country?

No. Changing the destination country changes taxes and shipping rates, which an address fix should never do. Customers can correct everything within the country the order was placed for.

What do my customers see?

A small editor on the order status page — the page their confirmation email already links to. If an order isn’t editable, they see nothing at all. No new logins, no separate portal.

I use a 3PL. Will edits race my warehouse?

At launch, orders lock the moment fulfillment starts. Fulfillment holds are coming next: orders pause during the edit window and release automatically when it closes, with a tag your 3PL can filter on.

What does it cost?

Free during early access. Pricing comes later and will be announced before anyone is charged — early-access stores will hear it first.

Is customer data handled properly?

Yes. We store the minimum needed to show you the change log, and the GDPR webhooks — data request, customer redaction, shop erasure — are implemented and tested against the database, not stubbed.
